What is Foodstock?
Dunwoody United Methodist Church, in partnership with Rise Against Hunger and Simpsonwood United Methodist Church, bring together over 1,300 community volunteers to assemble nearly 315,000 dehydrated meals for children in need across the globe. This number will eclipse the largest effort of its kind in metro Atlanta for Rise Against Hunger. Since 2010, the church and community have packaged over 2,400,000 meals. With a successful Foodstock event this year, we will eclipse the 2,700,000 meal mark in our history with Rise Against Hunger. Come be a part of this wonderful event and historic mark! Volunteers form large assembly lines to bag the meals. The meals are made of rice, soybeans, vegetables and 21 essential vitamins. The result of this work fills an entire shipping container (20 tons of food), and it is shipped immediately to those in need. Rise Against Hunger primarily targets children through school lunch programs, but expands to the community it is serving based on need.
